Pas Normal Studios and Salomon are back for round six, and this time the Copenhagen cycling label is thinking about what its riders do when the roads turn icy and the bike goes on the trainer: they go running. Hypebeast reports the new three-piece capsule is built for exactly that off-season handoff, and it lands November 5.
The headliner is the AERO BLAZE 4 GRVL GORE-TEX, a daily trainer for mixed surfaces with Salomon's light cushioning, multi-terrain grip and a full GORE-TEX membrane to keep sleet and puddles on the outside. PNS handles the color, and it skipped the usual neon safety palette for a deep brown upper with burgundy hits around the collar and laces on a black sole. It looks less like a running shoe and more like something you would wear to a natural wine bar after the run, which is very on brand for both parties. Two carry pieces round it out: the GRAVEL CONCEPT 2 vest, which brings Salomon's hydration-vest fit to a pared-back Nordic design, and the S/LAB BELT, a slim waist belt for bounce-free storage of keys, gels and the phone you swear you are not checking mid-interval.
PNS co-founder and creative director Karl-Oskar Olsen framed the drop around athletes looking for new terrain when the seasons change. Translation: the long ride is over until spring, and the gravel path is not going to run itself.
Our take: six collabs in, this pairing has earned the benefit of the doubt. Salomon brings real trail engineering and PNS brings restraint, which is rarer than it should be in performance gear. The brown-and-burgundy AERO BLAZE is the piece we would grab first, a waterproof runner that does not look like it is begging you to sign up for a marathon. If you train through winter, or you just like your shoes to survive November slush, put this one on the calendar.
