The New Balance 1890 has spent a lot of this year in easygoing shades, and now it's getting loud. Fullress reports the U1890 7LN "Altitude Blue/Black" (style U18907LN) releases in Japan on November 13, 2026 for ¥26,950, through New Balance's official online store and Japanese shops like UNITED ARROWS, BEAMS and BILLY'S. A US date hasn't been announced, so call it TBA for now.
A quick refresher on what the 1890 actually is: it takes the upper from the 890v3, a 2013 runner with that wavy cutout pattern laid over mesh, and puts it on the sole of the original 2002, the US-made runner New Balance put out in 2010. Underneath there's a full-length N-ERGY and ABZORB midsole, plus a TPU Stability Web under the arch. In other words, it's the ABZORB family at full volume. This pair runs a bright, almost electric blue through the wave overlays and N logo, and black handles the mesh, collar and outsole so it doesn't turn into a highlighter.
Our take: the 1890 has always looked like the 2000s running aisle in its best era, and this colorway leans all the way into that. The "Mulled Wine" pair from this weekend was cozy. This one is the friend who shows up in wraparound shades. It'll draw a lot more looks than a grey pair, which is either the point or the problem depending on your closet.
