Concepts Gives Boston First Access to the Jordan Tatum 5 “Laser”

Boston is getting the first shot at a new version of Jayson Tatum's latest signature shoe. As reported by Sole Retriever, the Jordan Tatum 5 “Laser” gets early access at Concepts Boston and online on Saturday, October 10, at 10 AM ET.

This pair trades team colors for a warm tan build. Nearly the whole upper is covered in a darker etched-style print of flowers and old-world scenes, while solid tan runs through the laces, the wide midfoot strap and the midsole. Red shows up in small doses: the Jumpman on the strap, the JT logo on the tongue and a script stitched inside the collar.

The images come from a moody red-backdrop shoot that carries the Jumpman up top and both the JT logo and the Concepts logo along the bottom, so the Boston shop is front and center on this one. It fits: Concepts started in the Boston area, and Tatum has spent his entire NBA career with the Celtics.

Update, October 6: the price is $135

FACT: Sneaker News reports the Jordan Tatum 5 “Laser” costs $135. It still launches first at Concepts Boston and on the Concepts web store on Saturday, October 10, at 10 AM ET. Jordan Brand hasn't shared wider release details yet.

ANALYSIS: Sneaker News ties the tan-and-red look to the “Laser” etching on the recent Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 1 Low, a pattern Jordan Brand first used in 2006 and brought back in 2015. It says the etched flowers point to TD Garden and Tatum's past work with Concepts. The timing matters too: Tatum starts this season in Boston without Jaylen Brown, and his longtime partners at Concepts are still in his corner.
