Nike Air Force 1 Low "Safari" Spots Up for November 1

Nike's Safari print has been around since 1987, when it first showed up on the Air Safari, and it still shows up every few years like a cousin who never misses a cookout. This time it lands on the Air Force 1 Low, and the result is cleaner than you'd expect from a shoe covered in spots.

The print covers most of the upper: black spots on a pale base running from the mudguard through the eyestays and around the heel. Desert Khaki fills the toe box and side panels, oversized black Swooshes sit on top, and the black heel tab carries white "Nike Air" embroidery. Black laces, a Summit White midsole with black AIR lettering and an all-black outsole finish it off. Nike even put the Safari pattern on the insole Swooshes, which only you will ever see.

Our take: Safari works best when it's paired with calm colors, and khaki and white keep this one from looking like a costume. It's an easy way to wear a print without committing to a whole outfit around it. The official name is Desert Khaki/Summit White-Metallic Silver-Black, but "the one with the spots" will do just fine.

Update (Oct 27): Footwear News now reports a $125 retail price, so you can wear a whole safari for about the cost of a nice dinner.
