Caitlin Clark's first signature shoe is getting a little shine. Sneaker News reports Nike is bringing PVD tech to the Caitlin 1, starting with a new take on the "Warning Code" colorway under style code JF3474-700. Official images are out, but the catch is real: this version is reportedly expected to be exclusive to Asia. A US release hasn't been confirmed, and there's no date or price yet.
PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition, a coating process that bonds a thin metallic layer onto a surface. Here it hits the embedded C's that make up the Opticast upper, so the pale yellow and cream knit picks up a metallic glow when the light catches it. The rest of the shoe sticks to the Warning Code recipe: royal blue outsole, icy translucent heel, layered blue, black and green Swoosh, and the CC logo on the tongue and heel. Sneaker News also spotted a PVD version of the launch "Racer Blue" colorway that flips into a cotton candy look.
Our take: the Caitlin 1 already looked like a cheat code under gym lights, and now it looks like a cheat code that got polished for the trophy case. The Warning Code was always the loud one in the lineup, so giving it a metallic coat feels right. The bad news is that US fans may have to watch this one from across the Pacific unless Nike changes course, which it has done before. We'll update this post if a stateside release gets confirmed.
