The Samba has been a dress shoe in spirit for years (the office crowd figured that out a while ago), and now Taipei's INVINCIBLE is just making it official. Per Sneaker News, the new INVINCIBLE x adidas Consortium capsule reworks the Samba with a ruched, elasticized foot opening that gives it a soft, slouchy look.
The headliner is an all-black version with sawtooth edges cut into the panels, basically a Samba wearing a tux. Two earthier pairs in brown and beige keep a sportier sole but the same gathered collar, with an off-white heel cup tying them back to the classic. The drop also marks the first adidas x INVINCIBLE apparel: a flight jacket, knit jerseys, track pants and sweatpants.
Our take: the scrunched collar is the kind of detail that sounds weird and looks great in person, and the suede tonal pairs are the ones we'd actually wear five days a week. Brain Dead and CLOT already proved the dress-Samba lane has legs; INVINCIBLE makes it feel quieter and more grown up.
