Why so shiny? Nike has a new patent leather Air Force 1 Low nicknamed "Joker," and it is already starting to show up at retailers around the world, as reported by Sneaker News. Retail is $125, and a Nike.com date hasn't been announced yet, though it shouldn't be far off.
The colors do all the talking. Bright Cactus green covers the toe box, quarter, tongue, midsole stitching and outsole, glossy black patent leather overlays sit on top, and Dark Iris purple shows up on the laces and tongue. A metallic silver oval lace dubrae finishes it off. It's built on the classic '07 shape, and it follows the patent AF1 looks Nike has been rolling out all year.
Our take: lime green, purple and black patent leather on one shoe sounds like a dare, and somehow it works. This is a loud pair, the kind you wear when you want somebody to ask about your shoes. Pair it with all-black everything and let the feet do the talking. And the timing, right before Halloween, is not lost on us.
We'll update this post when Nike confirms the US release date.
