The New York City Marathon is a New Balance show, but Nike has never needed an invite to crash a party. Sneaker News reports a new Nike Vomero Premium "NYC" (style code JA4059-010) timed to the race on November 1.
The idea is simple and loud. The big Uptempo-style "AIR" lettering on the lateral side is swapped for "NYC" in Lemon Venom, and the visible Zoom Air units in the midsole get a matching glow. Everything else is black, which is about as New York as a color choice gets.
One honest note before you line up at the start: the Vomero Premium is a max-cushion, high-mileage trainer, not a carbon-plated race shoe. If you're chasing a PR on Sunday, this isn't your pair. If you're doing the city on foot the other 364 days of the year, it's a pretty fun way to rep it.
Our take: a city edition is only good if you can read it from across the street, and this one passes. Black and volt never really go out of style, and the glowing Air bags give the chunky Vomero Premium shape a reason to exist off the track.
Sneaker News lists it at $240 in men's sizing through Nike, releasing soon. Nike hasn't posted an exact date yet, so treat the date as TBA and we'll update this post when it's confirmed.
