Nike's 1989-Inspired Air Lahar Low Returns in Black and Wheat, January 8 in Japan

Nike is digging back into its 1989 trail archive. The Air Lahar Low, the low-cut spin on the old Lahar Escape Boot, is coming back in Japan in two women's colorways, "Black" (Black/Orange/Black/Dark Smoke Grey, DB9953-001) and "Wheat" (Wheat/Orange/Wheat/Black, DB9953-700). Hypebeast reports a January 8, 2027 release through Nike Japan at ¥20,900 (about $130). A US re-release hasn't been confirmed, so call that part TBA. The Lahar Low has sold in the US before, which makes a stateside return plausible, and we'll update this post if Nike lines one up.

The build is chunky in the right way. A thick leather base gets mixed with suede and pig leather, a webbing pull tab sits at the heel, and metal eyelets carry thick 5mm speckled rope laces that you can actually grab with gloves on. Underneath, a soft foam insole sits over a heavy-lug rubber outsole that looks like it could chew through a gravel driveway. Per Hypebeast, Nike says it runs small, so go half a size up.

Our take: the Wheat pair is the headline. It's the most "I own a cabin" sneaker Nike makes, and it pairs with literally every pair of carpenter pants in your closet. The orange hits on the heel tab and outsole Swoosh keep it from turning into a plain work boot. The all-black pair is the stealth option for people who want the lugs without the attention. Either way, winter in a low-top you don't have to baby sounds pretty good right now.
