Nike Basketball made the LeBron 24 official today, and the headline is weight. Nike calls it the lightest game shoe LeBron James has ever had, and it arrives globally on November 17 at nike.com and select retailers. For a guy who has been in the league longer than some of his teammates have been alive, that is a bold claim — and Nike is putting a new upper behind it.
The big change is up top. The shoe uses KingKnit, a new knit made only for LeBron's line that mixes different yarns so the upper stays light and breathable but still holds the foot in place on hard cuts and jumps. Underneath, a full-length React foam midsole drops into the shoe and works with Air Zoom units in the forefoot and heel. A midfoot shank adds support, and the outsole gets a new traction pattern.
Nike is also changing how it tells LeBron's story. Instead of celebrating his trophies, the LeBron 24 colorways will be built around five lessons from his career, covering belief, support, turning setbacks into motivation, hard work, and self-awareness. The launch colorway, "Stars," is the first of those. It is a bright blue pair inspired by an AAU team from LeBron's childhood — a quieter origin story than another championship nod, and a better one.
"The game keeps getting faster, and we designed the LeBron 24 to meet that moment," said Dorian Pickens, product line manager for Nike Basketball, in Nike's announcement.
