Dr. Martens x The Exorcist Puts Regan on a 1460, Out Now in Japan

Dr. Martens picked the scariest possible week to do this. The British bootmaker has teamed up with The Exorcist, William Friedkin's 1973 horror classic, for a five-piece capsule that Hypebeast and Japanese outlets report is out now in Japan as of October 29 through Dr. Martens Japan, priced from ¥2,750 to ¥39,600 (roughly $17 to $250). A US or global release hasn't been announced yet, so treat stateside availability as TBA. We'll update this post if it crosses the ocean.

The lineup covers three Docs icons. The 1460 boot in Black/Purple goes all the way in, printing a huge image of a possessed Regan MacNeil across the smooth leather upper, with "FAITHLESS SLIME" debossed at the heel and repeated on a spare set of laces. Matte black eyelets, a black-and-purple AirWair heel loop and the classic yellow welt stitch finish it off. The 1461 shoe plays it quieter in Black Vintage Smooth leather, with "I'M NOT REGAN" laser-etched into the surface so a biscuit-brown layer shows through, plus black welt stitching and a metallic "THE EXORCIST" lace charm. The Jadon platform is the loudest of the three: glossy purple Arcadia leather with a two-tone rub-off finish, embossed "I'M NOT REGAN" lettering, a custom zipper and lace jewelry on that chunky sole.

All three get specially printed insoles. Beyond the footwear, the capsule adds a black leather backpack printed with Father Merrin's famous streetlamp silhouette and jacquard socks covered in purple "I'M NOT REGAN" text.

Our take: horror collabs usually go one of two ways, a tasteful nod or a full poster slapped on a shoe. Dr. Martens did both, which is smart. The 1460 is the one people will screenshot, but the 1461 is the one you'll actually wear to dinner without your mom asking if you're okay. And the Jadon in purple is exactly what a 360-degree head spin would look like as a boot. Docs have always been a little bit punk and a little bit spooky, so this one fits better than most movie tie-ins.
