The BAPE STA's 25th birthday party clearly has an afterparty. Fullress reports that A BATHING APE has a new set of fluffy BAPE STAs on the way as part of the anniversary collection. Release date and price are TBA.
The details, per Fullress: a soft, short-nap suede, three loud colorways, an anniversary lace buckle and BABY MILO touches. The campaign shots fill in the rest. There's a hot pink pair with a green STA, a sky blue pair with a pink STA, and a brown pair with a pink STA that looks like a teddy bear wearing a court shoe. A metal "25" buckle sits on the laces, and the brown pair comes with a BABY MILO charm.
This isn't the three-pair capsule that dropped October 17. We covered that one, and it went mostly black, shiny and toothy. This trio goes the other way: soft, bright and a little ridiculous, in the good BAPE way.
Our take: furry sneakers come back every winter, and most of them look like a rug fell on a shoe. These work because the STA silhouette stays clean under all that texture, and the colors are pure early-2000s Harajuku. The brown pair is the conversation starter. Keep a lint roller handy.
