Arthur Kar's Paris-based L'Art de L'Automobile is back in the Salomon garage. This time the pair is working on the XT-QUEST 2, and according to Fullress it lands October 28.

If you missed the earlier rounds, L'Art de L'Automobile is the vintage-car dealer turned clothing label, and its last Salomon drop in April worked on the S/Lab Phantasm 3 and ACS Pro. The XT-QUEST 2 is a different ride. It mixes early-2000s design with today's trail know-how: a grippy, stable bottom unit built for actual dirt, under a nubuck upper with a tough toe cap that reads more classic hiking boot than lab experiment. The campaign shows an olive-and-black pair with teal laces parked in front of a green classic car, which is about as on-brand as a shoe photo gets.

Fullress lists the pair through L'Art de L'Automobile and Salomon, plus Japanese retailers UNITED ARROWS, BEAMS and BEAUTY&YOUTH. Pricing hasn't been posted yet.

Our take: most car-themed sneakers lean hard on racing stripes and checkered flags. This one looks like the shoe you'd wear to go find a car, not the car itself, and that's a compliment. Earthy nubuck plus a real trail sole is a fall combination that doesn't need a gimmick.
