Just when you thought you had every Air Force 1 variant memorized, Nike brings back one of the quieter ones. Sneaker News has official images of three new Air Force 1 Low "Tech Essential" colorways, each priced at $115 and listed as coming soon to Nike.com. Nike hasn't announced an exact release date yet, so call it date TBA for now. We'll update this post when it's locked in.
The Tech Essential idea is simple: keep the classic AF1 shape you already know, then tweak the details. Here that means a raised, geometric texture on the Swoosh and a small fabric tag hanging off it. The three pairs are a black one (IV3416-005, listed as Black/Laser Orange), a soft grey (IV3416-006, Grey Fog/Bright Crimson) and a deep olive (IV3416-301, Tarp Green/Light Menta/Light Army).
Our take: nobody needs to be talked into a black Air Force 1. It's been the most practical shoe in the closet for decades, rain or shine. The olive is the one we'd grab, though. It's an easy fall color that still looks clean with jeans, and the textured Swoosh is subtle enough that only the sneaker people around you will notice. At $115, this is a no-drama way to get something a little different from a plain white pair.
