BSTN and Salomon Team Up for the First Time on the XT-6 “5 AM,” Out October 10

Munich sneaker store BSTN and Salomon have made their first shoe together. It is an XT-6 called "5 AM," named after the quiet hour when night turns into morning. The upper shifts color as the light hits it, and the insole fades from cool blue to warm orange, like the first glow of a sunrise. House of Heat was first to report the pair, and BSTN has now put it up on its own site.

Listed on bstn.com as the XT-6 Iridescent in Black/Black/Almond Milk (style L45567700), it runs €179.99 and drops Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 AM CEST (4:00 AM ET) as a BSTN exclusive, in men's and women's sizes EU 36 to 48.

BSTN says the design is built around 5 AM, "the quiet hour between night and day." The black mesh base gets an iridescent finish and contrast stitching that change with the light and as you move. The molded OrthoLite insole carries both logos and shifts from blue to orange. A BSTN label under the laces carries the shared slogan "Common Ground," and there is co-branding on the outer heel. The rest is the XT-6 people know: a Mud Contagrip outsole with deep lugs for grip, the agileCHASSIS system for stability and cushioning, quickLACE laces, and a single-layer mesh upper with tough TPU overlays. The campaign was shot on a rocky mountain at sunrise, to match the theme.

The XT-6 is a common pick when a store or label does its first Salomon collab. Orbit covered OFFSPRING's first Salomon pair on the same model just two weeks ago. BSTN's version stands out because it is not built around a city or a logo — it is built around a time of day, and every detail ties back to it, from the color-shift upper to the sunrise insole. Keeping the base black is smart, too. The shoe stays easy to wear, and the iridescent finish only shows up when the light catches it. Because it is a BSTN exclusive, it will not show up at regular Salomon stockists, so bstn.com is the place to watch on release morning.

Orbit's take: the insole is the best part, even if most people will never see it. A fade from blue to orange is a simple idea done well, and it makes the "5 AM" name feel earned, not just slapped on. For a first collab, BSTN played it smart. It is clean enough to wear every day, with just enough shine to stand out.
